Holistic, Trauma-Informed Online Therapy

for anxious people-pleasers, high achievers, and neurodivergent adults who are ready to heal & grow.

Laura Sgro, LCSW licensed anxiety and trauma therapist

Hi, I'm Laura! (she/her)

I’m a licensed anxiety & trauma therapist based in Los Angeles, California.

I’m also a neurodivergent coffee snob enthusiast obsessed with reading fantasy novels, a (mostly) undefeated Scrabble champion, a karaoke queen, and someone who spends waaaay too much time color-coding spreadsheets (thanks, ADHD!). I was born & raised here in Los Angeles and I’m still enjoying the endless cuisine options & hiking trails, but am always hoping for more sweater weather and rain.

And this is Jonesy, the unofficial mascot of Out of the Woods Therapy! You’ll see her pop in and out of sessions, usually around her lunchtime when she thinks I’ve forgotten to feed her (I haven’t). She doesn’t usually stick around long, but if you’re more comfortable without any furry visitors, just let me know and I can keep her out of my office.

Like many therapists, I was drawn to this work because
I’ve been there.

As a neurodivergent woman, diagnosed with ADHD in my 30s & anxious most of my life, I know what it’s like to move through the world feeling both too much but also not enough. To carry the weight of shame for decades without really understanding where it came from. To feel stuck in old patterns that don’t actually help but won’t. go. away. To fall down constant anxiety spirals, wondering if you’ll ever find your way out of them.

The good news is that with the right support, you can live life differently.

Yes, I have clinical training (and that’s super important), but I also bring lived experience, authenticity, and genuine care for my clients. I’m not a blank slate, and I don’t expect you to be either.

If you’re looking for someone to guide you closer to yourself and the things that matter to you — with compassion, patience, and a healthy dose of dry humor — I’d love to walk this road with you.

You don’t have to hold it all together here.

I work with folks who feel like they’re constantly managing —managing their emotions, their image, their nervous system, their relationships, their everything. Maybe you’ve been the responsible one, the high-achiever, the people-pleaser. Maybe you’ve spent years performing stability on the outside while quietly unraveling inside. Maybe trauma taught you that this was how you would survive.

You might be navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, chronic self-doubt, or the exhaustion of masking in a world that doesn’t always make space for who you are. You’ve likely done a lot of “figuring it out” already through reading, analyzing, maybe even past therapy. But something still feels stuck.

I will help you go deeper so you can make meaningful change & finally find relief.

My approach is rooted in my own core values.

  • I believe that you are the expert on your own life and experiences. I will meet you where you’re at and support you in your healing rather than controlling the process.

  • I’m a real and approachable person & I don’t believe that therapy should be rigid or formal. I’ll be there while you cry, laugh, swear, or scream and I hope to provide a space where you never feel the need to mask.

  • I firmly believe that our multiple identities influence the way we see and experience the world — and these parts of us must be honored during therapy. I care deeply about amplifying marginalized voices and cultivating inclusive spaces for all brains and identities. My approach is rooted in social justice.

  • When you’re ready, we will dig deep to explore aspects of your past, challenges in the present, and hopes for your future to help you heal and create the life you want.

  • Transparency and reliability are necessary for a successful and trusting relationship. You can count on me to be honest with you even when it’s uncomfortable.

  • Growth is not stagnant. I am committed to continuing my personal and professional development and growth to better support you in yours.
